What I like to have by the end of the day is a sense of accomplishment. Have I been efficient with my time, or have I been influential to make the day a successful one. I look forward to making the most of my day.
- What do you love about your job?
What I love most about my job is 1) the people I work with, and 2) the freedom to create a way of working that works best for me. I have always loved that the managers I’ve had did not micro-manage, and I’ve proven that they don’t need to. I, therefore, extend the same courtesy to the people that report to me. Capgemini hires THE BEST people, and I’ve always found it easy to fit in and learn new faces.
- How does Capgemini empower you to master your skills?
This goes back a bit to my previous answer. The freedom to work in a way that allows me to maximize my efficiencies and become great in my role. I have ways that work for me, and I’m allowed to create files, reports, etc. that help me to be successful. I also have a list of people that I can reach out too for coaching, mentoring, and advice. The people at Capgemini are amazing, and there is an incredible support system just from team relationships alone, as well as the actual people employed by HR and benefits teams to help you along the way.
- How does Capgemini help support your sense of purpose in your career?
Capgemini is made up of incredible people, and I’ve had the fortune of connecting with so many of them throughout my tenure here. Each person has played a significant role in propelling me forward throughout my career. This has helped me grow in my work, and personally as well. I feel like Capgemini has a desire for me to succeed, and it drives me to give the best of my abilities, and add value and leadership in my role. And, it always comes from the heart!
- How does Capgemini give you the autonomy to make decisions?
I’ve mentioned this a couple of times above. I’m not micromanaged; I’m free to work in a way that works for me and allows me to be efficient. I LOVE this. I’m allowed to work from home, so I can be a better mom, and my team and I have fun. We try to keep the stress low, which allows my body to relax and not feel anxiety. This helps my brain focus on work, and not on stress.
- What do you love about the way of working at Capgemini?
We are so separated physically!!! It’s crazy, yet we talk on the phone as if we are all in the same room! It is very special when we are able to actually come together in person though. I wish we got to do that more often. But, we make the most of any face-to-face meetings as we cultivate a family atmosphere within the team.
- How does this all combine for you to have passion for what you do?
It keeps me motivated to strive for a higher career. It keeps my ethics high, and I want to deliver for others, not just my own career. I also volunteer to lead the annual office holiday party and have done so for more than 10 years. I get no additional bonus for this, I just do this out of my heart. Collaboration, communication, and fun are so important to feel like you are part of a family. I feel that it’s important to push this in the office, and not just my team.
- What was the most memorable moment in your Capgemini journey?
Over my 17 years, there have been many moments to consider. I’ve helped with so many special projects outside of my everyday job, that it’s hard for me to think of a single moment throughout all these years. So what I will pick out is very recent instead. It’s when I was picked to apply for Connect & Drive 2018 program. I was chosen without asking to be chosen! That made me feel special and valued. Then, I was accepted! Then, I was given challenges in this program and grew from them. And I met a new round of faces, and have created yet another family of coworkers. This has made me reflect on myself, to myself and to others, and has been an invaluable experience. And I’m only halfway through! I’m loving it.
